diesel Engine Stand

Can anyone recommend what kind of engine stand they would recommend to hold a MF65 Diesel Engine. I have one that is a 1000 lbs, and I know will not hold it. I have seen some just for diesel motors, but I believe that they are more for large truck motors. My tractor engine Siezed and i have to do my first rebuild. Thanks

You should be able to find some type of connection rods to attach the engine to the stand. They may be adjustable with swivle or ball type ends. They make several things to solve this problem. If you cannot find something, be creative and make your own brackets.

OTC probably makes the best larger engine stands around. I work at an industrial John Deere dealership and we have about ten of them. They make them in a few different sizes. Every once in a while I will see one on ebay. Just do a little hunting, cause there are alot of them out there.

I have seen the OTC stands. They are very nice. What size would you recomend? I have 1000lbs stand, I am sure that is too small to handle the weight. I have seen those huge stands for 3 tons engines, I am sur ethat is over kill for my little shop. Also what is the best way to secure the engine to the stand, like which bolt holes. Thanks again.

Jmarnott,

If that 1000 # stand is a 4 wheel design
and not the 3 wheel it should carry that engine,
203 perkins is not a large engine. I have 8 stands
of different shapes and sizes . One is an OTC,one
is an OTC look alike(a very good stand), one home made big enough to mount a large cummins or
V-12 detroit, 2 home made almost that big that
are mounted (poured in ) in the floor, 1 home made
on wheels (at least as big as the 1000# otc), and
2 small 1000# import ones. I mounted a case 188D
on one of the imports today to tear down ,it weighs
about the same as your 203 perkins. If you want any pictures post an email , be glad to send you some.

Wow that is great news, I dont have much money to spend on this rebuild (Hence why I am doing it myself), and I really did not the prices that I saw on the larger diesel stands. I would love to see some pictures. Email is [email protected].
I am really not sure how to bolt it to the stand, as I am use to working with gas motors, and this is so much bigger. Thanks again

I know some big motors you can bolt it to the the side of the block. Just did a 4-53 detroit this way and it worked out great, allowing me to put the end covers and stuff on much easier.
