I have a '61 Farmall 140 that I'm in the process of restoring. I have asked this question before, where can I get any info on My tractor? More specifically, proper decal placement, I have no pictures of it before My Dad's attempt to clean it up and paint it. Someone before suggested Guy Fay's Letter series Farmalls but I'm not sure they cover My '61 140. It's serial# is 12622J. From what I can figure, this is mid to late '61 manufacture with rockford clutch!?! I'm slowly finding pieces I need and some info but would really like to find some factory original data!This tractor is a family heirloom from My Grandfather and would like to do it justice! Fortunally it has never been run that much or hard it's entire life so mechanically it is excellent shape, doubt it has more than 500 or 600 hours of running time on it. Spent years in storage after Grandpa died. If anybody could point Me in right direction I would appreciate it! Thanks! The trouble with decal placement is if you copy a tractor from a book or magazine you may be loking at a restord tractor with an improperly placed decals.Its better to find an original machine talk to the owner first,then measure with a plastic ruler the exact correct location of his decals.You will kind of know if a tractor has original finish by loking at the paint.Any other way you could be just copying somebody elses incorrect location .No matter how ratty the original tractor is always ask if you can touch the paint.If the owner wanted it repainted he would have done it already,but treasures his original condition paint.

I have thought about that. I do know someone who had one but it burned up in a barn fire a few years ago. Maybe there are some people out there that might live in My neck of the woods that have this Model in original condition! I live in the Beaufort area of North Carolina. I know with all these old tobacco farms around here there must be some more 'cause this was a popular model to work tobacco. Any help would be great! Thanks dr. sportster!

If you do do[doo doo?]it from a book or magazine it probably wont be off by any real noticable amount.I have sent charts to other guys for locating stuff on antique Harley fenders .I am sure that someone with the same tractor could be helpful enough to make you a sketch or something to help you properly locate them and mail it to you also.
