Rebuilt B Farmall has the usual whine in the final drive. Using 140 wt. oil. Old IH mechanic suggested adding tube grease to thicken the 140wt. , says it will make it run with less whine. Has anyone done this? Or is there a better way? Looking for a solution. Thanks

Yes all straight cut gears whine however going heavier on the recomended lube could cause oil starvation where you want lube.Let em whine enjoy the sound.

Like Bob said, they all whine. Whether yours is the normal whine or a bearing that needs attention only you can tell because we can't hear it.
I put 1/2 can of STP in each side of my B, along with the gear lube, to help with the whine. It helps some, but it will probably never go away completely.

I grew up driving "A"'s and "B"'s, and they ALL had gear whine. It's how they were since new. Let it whine, and don't worry about it! It's part of their "character".
