I would like to hear from some people re: experiences with the use of various rust reformer products that are available. I am considering using same on rear rims of JD M which I am restoring. My research has indicated that Rust Bullet may be a very good choice. Would some of you share experiences that you have had?

Never heard of it. Best thing to do with rims is to sandblast them. They can be removed and you can either blast them yourself or have it done without spending much money. I usually don't favor sandblasting because of the mess and possibility of getting sand where it doesn't belong, but rims and wheels are good candidates. Best to remove the rust rather than try to convert it. I do sometimes use phosphoric acid (the main ingredient in any such product) to protect bare metal, but not as a converter.

Ken I have used rust reformer a lot for probably about 10 years and love it. I don't think that the brand matters. I just follow the instructions. I don't like rust on any of my equipment, so during maintenence I'll dab it on the rust. sometimes after cleaning something I'm going to paint I'll put the reformer on before priming. I've had very good longevity with it. good luck.
