I have a John deere 2020. Just the other day the
Hydrolics to the bucket loader stoped working.
When you push the lever up the bucket will stutter
and slowly go up but when you pull the lever down
it either lifts the bucket a fraction of it does
nothing at all. needless ta say the bucket is now
fully extended. what could be causing that and how
can it be fixed?

First I would check fluid level in hyd. system.
Then check your hyd. filter. If the return comes into the filter housing deere recc. a special metal wrapped hyd filter.
Is the loader a recent addition? if so are you using closed center valves on the loader?
are you using a seperate valve assembly to control loader/bucket? if so disconnect return line at the tractor, place in a 5 gal pail with lid and Very carefully move lever to let down position.
does the power steering work? what about the brakes? how about the three pt lift arms? do you have a remote cylinder you could hook up and try?
Deere uses a "priority" to the power steering and brakes. then the rest of the hyd systems

Try the simple things first, if your hyd lines are plugged in with quick couplers check and make sure one of them hasnt popped out.
