Starts and runs at about 3/4 throttle, won't idel down. watts wrong?

First, check the obvious - throttle linkage, throttle lock, etc.. Older TS"s had an air governor with linkage to the carb.

Usually, it was due to being worn out and air was leaking past the main bearings/seals, causing the saw to run lean.

I would inspect the piston and cylinder by removing the muffler. Any scratches or metal transfer on the piston indicates it is time for a rebuild. Use a flashlight to look at the inside of the cylinder near the ports when the piston is at the bottom. Any scratches or metal transfer means rebuild.

Due to the nasty environment these saws usually run in, air filter maintenance is critical. Rebuilds are common and when I had my Stihl dealership, a complete rebuild ran about 1/2 the price of a new saw, parts and labor. This included new crank bearings, seals, piston & cylinder, carb rebuild, ign. tuneup, belt, filters, gaskets, etc.

just started looking but am interested in finding a manuel on the stihl ts 350 super chop saws , thanks , i am rebuilding one so a detailed manuel is better than a owners manuel...
