I've got a 1944 JD A with a steel tag. It's getting pretty rusty. I know what the numbers are, and they're still visible with a magnifying glass. Is there anyone who restores these? Maybe by restamping the numbers with the original stamps. I'm not trying to do anything crooked here, just want to make the numbers more readable. The tag is still mounted on the tractor with the original rivets. Thanks. Jim.

paint your tag the color you want. carefully use fine steel wool to rub off the paint to bring out the raised areas and your numbers. go slow. you dont want to mess with the tag anymore than you have to. its better to leave it original as possible. pg
