John deere compact utility won't start

Is there possibly a relay that would cause it not to start? It clicks when the key is turned, but will not engage starter. Battery is good. The dash lights also flicker intermittently when the key is on. Any suggestions? There was a mouse nest behind the dash panel, but could not see any damaged wires.

First, remove the battery cables from the battery and clean the posts and the cables.

Bob,

Thanks for the response. The battery connections were the first things I checked and they were fine. I found the problem, it was a bad ground connection where the negative cable terminated. I
was surprised to see the ground was only to sheet metal, and after removing the corroded bolt, found that the paint was still intact and that there was no star washer.
