thanks for any response and I'm writting again to see if anyone has anything to day about cleaning out my old hydralic oil....in the trans case it's clean ..but in the steering box it was milky and also at some other points....I'm taking this thing( 340 utility) apart here and there and would like to renew things that need it.One guy said to flush it all out with diesel and then new oil .....any comments.....all are appreciated...thanks ken

ken I found the same milky mess in my steering box of my ford 841, only thing i could figure is that over the years that rain or condinsation leaked in to the box. I also found a large amount of old grease that was almost solid in the upper part of the box. had to soak it in kerosine for three days and then still had to scrub like heck to clean it out. but you shouldnt need to worry about that milky fluid just change to clean fluid and replace all the gaskets,I used heavy gear oil I think 90 wt. dont over fill it cause it leaks for weeks and mine leaked on the step and I sliped and raked my shin real good on it. good luck
