Hello, I recently put a basic rebuild kit in the carb on my Case 400B. It will only run with the choke out. Before it would run and idle without the choke but ran smoother with the choke out a little. I,m not sure what the problem is and could use some exprt help. Thanks. Nick

I have IH tractors but the principle of the carb is the same. Your carb is either adjusted wrong, the float level is wrong, or you have a fuel flow problem. Most likely your tractor has a sediment bowl and screen, make sure they are clean. It is also likely that the carb has a screen attacted to the fitting that screws into the carb that the gas line attaches to. It could be plugged. There could also be crud in the gas tank. Also, if you did not soak your carb in carb cleaner before you put the kit in and blew all the passages out with compressed air, you need to do that.

Thanks for the reply. I soaked the carb in diesel fuel over night and then blew it out the following day before putting it back together. I adjusted the idle jet and power jet as per instructions. I will check to be sure there are no obstructions in the fuel tank etc. Thanks again.

Nick, had same problem with TSX749 on a 611B after reuild,adjusted the float level down from1/4" to almost 3/16". After the closer setting check after lettting set for awhile too make sure the needle is closing, may have to adjust a little less. Good luck
