I purchased a 49cub, but it lacks power and the gas flow is continuously getting plugged by a film, almost a shellack material.Someone suggested a new magnieto, but how do I solve the gas problem? Any constructive suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a cub which was giving problems w/a nearly plugged carbuerator.There was no time to obtain a kit or get gaskets.The only way to run it was with choke 3/4 closed. I removed the gas inlet fitting and side plug oriface.Sprayed in aerasol choke cleaner and let sit 30 minutes then closed it all up. Turned on the gas and now it runs fine.

I'd also suggest putting an inexpensive inline gas filter in the fuel line. I my opinion they work better than the sediment bowls and only cost a couple bucks at the local auto parts store. Rust fragments from the gas tank will make it past the sediment bowl.

Your tank needs cleaning. Post on the Farmall board and you will get some suggestions.
