I'm in the process of having an Oliver 550 restored and when the manifold was pulled it looks solid, but really rusty on the outside.

I seem to recall a paint or rust stopping treatment that can be used for manifolds ... any suggestions??

I'm also about to paint the manifold of my Super 55 as soon as it comes back from the machinist.

I heard of a company called POR-15 and their high temperature paint is POR-20.

As an experiment on my M farmall, I sandblasted the manifold and painted it with high temp barbecue paint. I really didn't like the appearance of the flat black when it dried, so I painted over it with ordinary gloss black, it looked really good after that, and has stood up surprisingly well. Even after pulling a plow for about 4 hours, and the tractor overheated, the manifold still looks very good.

Get a Hemmings Motor News off the magazine stands in a store. In it you will find ads for manifold paints that look like fresh grey iron, just the ticket for a new, "fresh off the assembly line" tractor. Blast the manifold with glass beads, aluminum oxide, etc. and paint it.
