I am looking to buy a pressure washer for the purpose of cleaning tractors, implements and my vehicles. Can someone please advise on how much pressure I need for these tasks? Farm & Fleet has a 2300 psi/6 HP one, a 2400 psi/5 HP one, and a 2700 5 HP one. Which might be the better buy for my purposes?

The key to sucessful cleaning lies more in the higher gpm's. That way after you knock it off, you have the volume to flush it on off at a decent rate of speed.

Don't have a volume problem with the 2300 psi unit and volume.

You can't pay double the price for a unit that only delivers 8% improved performance. Well, I can't.

I doubt you can tell the difference in these pressures while washing. I say that because the nozzle can be changed from fan to pencil beam and you can put it as close to the work as you want.

I think most units in the $300-400 price range are about the same. I bought one at HomeDepot for that range and had 2300 psig with a BS 6.5 engine. (see post today in tool talk). Some units are a lot higher if you want all the whistles and bells. After not having one I really like mine.

My wife likes to wash algae off sidewalks and porches and wash rugs. You can also wash your house with it.
