Jerry: What type of engine is this? The type of engine can play a big part in how you go about freeing it up. Smaller engines (1 or 2 cylinders such as lawnmowers) are often easier to take apart and free up, while larger engines can be more difficult, or at least more complex. Everyone has their favorite concoction--I've used PB Blaster with good results, but I've heard of Kroil, Automatic Transmission Fluid, diesel fuel, turpentine, ammonia, vinegar, Coca-Cola, Mouse Milk (supposed to be very agressive--I've never used it personally, but you can buy it online) WD-40, Liquid Wrench, and all sorts of other things being used as well. I've also had success tapping a old spark plug or correctly-sized bolt to fit down the spark plug hole and applying pressurized air--at a minimum, it will force whatever fluid you are using further down the cylinder, possibly freeing the rings. Whatever you use, paitence is the biggest key--even the agressive solvents often take a few days to work their way into the nooks and crannies to get to the point where the engine is stuck.

Suppose you've already tried putting diesel fuel thru spark plug holes. Will work if you are patient and persistent. Kroil works better, more expensive tho, has some kind of ingredient that's supposed to eat up or dissolve rust. Don't know how many chemicals I would want to mix in cylinders at one time, sometimes chemicals do funny things when put together. I drove chemical tanker for years...go easy and be safe

My self I like to use turpentine but others say PB blaster. I tyried something the other day with some old tools that where rusted up badly and stuck, I started with PB and it worked ok but when I put turpentine in with the PB it worked great had to old vise-grips and needle nose freed up in no time. So take it for what its worth I like the turpentine but others may say more. My $0.02 worth
