I am rebuilding an 8N. I had the tires and tubes removed to allow me to prep the wheels for painting. What a mess. Turns out the tubes had been leaking fluid and rotting out the wheels. I sand blasted heavy rust right through to air. The wheels are full of holes and appear to be quite thin. I do have a MIG welder and I would like to save them. What material do I use to patch? Will a lot of patches affect the way tire sits back on the wheel. Any advice or resource materials?

Friend of mine fixed his moline wheels with fibreglas and it worked very well. has been using them for 5 yrs. now and still look good. Is trying to talk me into doing it to my wheels but I have never done fibreglas work before. Will attempt it soon as weather gets better.

You may want to find a salvage yard and get some replacement rims.

I have done this exact same thing, and I will not do it again. You will be much better off to just find another set of wheels that are in good condition.
