Could used a little help. Rewired a livestock trailer today. For some reason when the taillights are on and I step on the brakes all the light go off. Turn signals work fine and brake light work then. Brake lights work when the tail lights are not on. Only when the tail lights are on the brake light do not.

Bulbs are good but I did notice that all the lights are working on the upper/larger filiment(sp) I would assume that maybe the taillights sould work on the lower/smaller filiment. But, there is only 1 brown and 1 green wire to the one side and 1 brown and 1 green to the other.

Any ideas would be great....

Make sure you have a GOOD ground on both the trailer and tow vehichle. Don't rely on just the contact between them through the hitching system.

I did use the ond ground connestions. I'll bet that is my problem... Thanks

I too had the same problem when I rewired my tractor hauling trailer. My dad stopped by and made me feel like a goober.

So also make sure you didn't reverse the green and browns at the lights. I fought with a trailer for three hours till dad got feed up laughing at me and told me to reverse the wires. If yours are like mine the are white at the light assy.
