Is there any trick to saving mildly weather checked rear tractor tires? I am getting tired of always buying new tires and the tractor I have now to restore has tires that aren't to bad. They do not appear to have had fluid in them and the sidewall looks ok. Thanks for any help.

Jim,
I'm not any kind of tractor expert, but probably like you I've owned cars and trucks all my life.

If I wanted to keep my tires as new as possible on a truck, I'd keep them aired to the correct psi and I would drive regularly and normally. And I'd rotate them every 7500 miles.

If my truck did alot of sitting around (like a tractor might...sometimes), I'd make sure the vehicle was stored out of the weather. I'd jack up the rear end just a little and lower the air pressure in the tires.

If you use the tractor occasionally and don;t have a compressor handy where you could just air up the tires in a few minutes before use, then at least keep the tires out of the sun and weather extremes.

That's what I'd do for regular auto tires anyway.

Millers sells a tire black that you can spray on or brush on. It is a water base and works well.
