Timing Hercules IXA5 Engine

Hi There,

I have a generator with a Herculess IXA5 engine.

The problem is I lost the timing when I rebuilt my water pump.

How Can I set the Timing?

I can find the DC mark on the flywheel but how do I set the distributor?

Distributor is a Fair Banks Morse model FM XE4A14B

Please Help me

Is it a Kohler generator? I have a book someplace for Kohler and will look later to see what it shows. You should be able to get your engine on #1 compression stroke. #1 cylinder being toward the radiator/fan end. The mag should be positioned with the dist. rotor lined up with the upper right hand terminal. If this doesn't let the impulse lugs line up then try the upper left hand terminal position.

Hi,

I still was not able to start the engine.

due to yearend activities I havenot tried but now everything back to normal I am trying again. I am to sure if it ia a kohler generator. on the engine it says HERCULES

I all ready found the position on the death center the problem I have is withthe distributor

Fair Banks Morse I cannot figure out how it works since it doen not work like ordenairy distributors.

Any idea
