My 52 Super M was running great recently then all of a sudden it started leaking gas from the vent in the bottom of the carb and has not much power unless choke is half opened. float seems ok (not leaking) could it still be the needle and/or air leak? what's next to check? thanks

In those old Marvel carbs they contain a packing on the bottom of the carb in the high idle mixture screw. It could be that air is leaking past the packing thus requiring more fuel so you need to choke the carb for the tractor to run. Other than that the next step would be to tear down the carb and clean it using Kleen Flo carb cleaner. However be cautioned this stuff is very corrosive and will disolve a aluminum carb in 10 minuites. So use with caution.
