Hello, I have had a Nuffield 342 that has just developed some sort of hydraulic problem. I havn't had the tractor long and know the oil in the transfer case was at the bottom of the dipstick ( very low)when I bought it, however all the hydraulics worked well and my intention was to replace the oil before the tractor did any work. I have not really used the tractor as I needed a slasher, so now I have a slasher. I hooked up the slasher (5 foot) and made sure everything functioned when the hydraulic lift just stopped working I thought the best thing would be to replace the oil to the correct level with fresh oil. I did that. The lift still does not work and my querey is, could it be I may need to bleed the hydraulic system of air ? And what do I undo to bleed the system. Could anyone offer suggestions.
The control lever that engages the lift/lower action of the hydraulics still has the same "feel" , as if it is still doing something, but nothing moves ?

Jimmy....Try this site has alot of nuffield manuals online, you might have to remove the last word in the link and put in your tractor model..
(345) this ones for a (425)...or you can do a search on google..

Thanks for your help TO.

I went and purchased another drum of oil and filled to the correct level and away she went, the hydraulic lift worked first time no problems.
I attached the slasher and made easy work of 4 acres of thigh high weeds and grasses. Even the draught levelling control worked well.

Just out of intrest the transfer case took 55 litres of oil.
