anybody know a trick to getting the sleeve of a freeze plug out the center of it rusted out

If you can get to it, you can take a socket with the outter edge of the socket the same size as the freeze plug and drive it out. Not exactly the proper way to use a socket but it works great and you are less apt to scar the wall around where the freeze plug goes.

If you have a handy-dandy mig welder , or are good with a stick welder, run a bead around the inside of the sleeve, when it cools it will contract and loosten the sleeve in the hole.
