I have a Caterpillar 2-ton crawler. Used to run great! It has been sitting for about 10 years without ever being toughed. I finally got it running a couple of weeks ago, but it is back-firing through the carburetor really bad and non-stop. It acts like it is loading up on fuel and flooding itself out. I'm running a Zenith carb. I really need some insight on how to fix this problem. Anyone know anything about Zenith carbs? Could my carb be to big for the engine? I realize it's not the stock carb. I believe the 2-tons came with a Purist carb. Can somebody give me some info or lead me to someone that might be able to help me?

Craig,

Unless you have swapped a wire , it sounds

more like an intake valve either stuck open or

not seating tight.
