need suggestion with a rearend on a bolens 1220

I just bought it and the rearend locks up. I was told there is some kind of a lock but I am not sure. Can anyone give me some imput on what it might be or how to fix it.

Hi Steve
Not real sure what you mean by "locks up". The Bolens has a posi-traction nut on the left rear wheel(sitting on the tractor) and a wheel lock pin(free-wheeling pin) on the inside of the right rear wheelhub. You pull this out to be able to push the tractor otherwise it won't move.
The posi-nut is screwed out for one wheel traction only and in for more degreed of two-wheel traction - clear in tight is "locked rear end. If the tractor locks up while moving under power, make sure the high-low range lever is working ok- full travel. Ping me back with more info if this dosen't help
