would any one happen to know the wiring diagram for the charging system. It seems to be putting out 20 volts AC at the two wires from the alternator however that's all that's there, was a voltage regulator used??? can I go to the more modern type of DIODE any help appreciated>> it has sentimental value have had it for over 20 years and has a NEW short block, MOWES like NEW Thanks Walter n Maryland

Bought a junker MF7 3 years ago. It was all there except the carb and battery. There is no external voltage regulator on it. I have never tried to use a battery on it. From what you describe, I think there is something wrong in the alternator. Probably it had a tiny solid state regulator integral to the alternator coils.
