I am restoring a 1953 garden tractor which was built by the Standard Mfg. company. It is powered by a B&S 9 FB type 201 537 and uses a two part down draft two piece carburator. I need a new carb and there are no numbers on the old one or on the tractor to tell me what type. all the parts places are ambivalent about helping me but I really need a new carb to finish this project up. Could someone please contact me via e-maoil and offewr some advice. Thanks, John Landrum

I believe you have the equivilant of my Bantam, mfg by Standard. I have a '54. Engine numbers make sense. Mine uses a B & S Type K, small flo-jet, two piece carb.

I have added a link to a business that sells rebuild kits. I haven't ordered one, but it appears the parts are for the 9FB, item 1415.

As for a replacement, haven't found any - yet.

I am after a new glass fuel bowl and gasket (possibly mfg. by Chapin) please let me know if you come across an extra in your parts search.

There are pictures of my bantam and the carb in the yahoo bantam tractors group, my photo file is "eric's bantam".

Thanks, tried briggs and stratton .com already and got the equivalent of an electronic shrug. Any other thoughts?
John

Before you give up, make a trip to a carburetor (auto) rebuilder and talk to them. They may be able to fix what you have or suggest some other solution. Have one near me that has always been able to help with my carbs (old trucks). Also look around for old garden tractor junkyards and dealers in old garden equip.
