Does anyone have any experience with B Farmall PTO operation ?.. I have a Woods Mower on my old B Farmall and lately it has developed a "disengage" problem when I engage the mower. It will go into gear fine, but will slowly disengage in a few moments. There basically has been no work done to this old tractor so are there any quick tips before I start to disassemble this system ? Do I look for worn out gears, worn out bearings ?? I havent worked with tractors in the past, but I do have an automotive background. Thanks for any help.

I haven't had mine apart, but you might look for something simple 1st. According to my parts book, in the pto housing behind the shifter lever is a "poppet" and a spring that I assume help keep the pto engaged. It could be worn, or the spring could be weak. There is an oil seal you might want to replace, I think it is just an o-ring.

I believe I have solved the "disengage" problem with my B Farmall PTO previously stated in this forum with a simple replacement of a spring and poppet which cost a total of $6.74 . Thanks to the reply to my original message .
