I have a slight problem I hope someone can provide some input on. I split my little 4wd AC to put a clutch assy. in, no big deal right? I can NOT get this thing back together!!! CLutch assy. aligned with an alignment tool, and I'm watching very closely when I go back together to make sure everything lines up. Any suggestions will be appreciated!!!!

I saw your message the other day on the Allis Chalmers board and I was wondering if you got your problem solved, I don't have your answer probably but I had a problem this summer trying to get final drives in a B Allis Chalmers. I ended up fileing the ends of the axles, because when pressed out they mashed the ends. Well it fell right in place then. Hope this helps you. Good luck. Dave.

I remember kind of slow, but here is the way to align the bell housing to the back of the engine. Buy some longer bolts, long enough to reach through the gap and screw into the block with the transmission as close as you can get it. loosen and tighten bolts around the bell housing until the space is the same all the way around, the more accurately you can measure this the better. loosen the bolts slightly, probably about 1/6 of a turn. Put a long pry bar, like a 2 x 4 under the bell housing, and pry straight up, not at an angle, but straight up. Then shake the tractor slightly. You may have to pry and shake a few times, but eventually it will line up and slide in. Then take the long bolts out and replace them with the correct bolts. This works on cars and trucks, too.

I'm not familiar with it, but if the shaft into the transmission is even several thousands out of alignment with the crankshaft it will catch on the lip of the pilot bushing in the crankshaft.
