Restoring Hyd. Cylinders

I have a 2-1/4" X 26" lift cylinder with rust pitting inside. It came with an old Schwartz trip loader I acquired. The other cylinder in the pair is in good condition....needing only seals and cleaning. Any tricks or ingenious solutions appreciated. Would like to restore eventually as original....but funtion is of greater importance right now.

There is a heading in my yellow pages for "Hydraulic Equipment Repairing," that hsa a lot of the kind of businesses that can do that kind of work. I don't know if it can be fixed, but it probably will have to have all the rust remoced so that a good bond can be made, and there might be some kind of plating or coating that can be applied that can be machiuned and take the wear. Some place like that may know. The places here in Kalamazoo MI fix anything from floor jacks to center lift post hoists that set in a pit in the floor.

If the rust isn't too bad you may be able to hone it out, but you might have to make an extension for a hone to reach the full length.
