IVE GOT A 1953 AC WD I CANT GET TO FIRE IT HAS GAS AND SPARK THERE IS A WIRE ON THE MAG I BELIVE IT IS A KILL WIRE IT GOES UP TO A SWITH THAT NO LONGER WORKS THE WIRE IS NOT HOOKED UP .SHOULD IT BE HOOKED UP TO COMPLEAT A CIRCUIT?ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APRECEATED THANKS KAL

Disconnect that wire at the mag and see if it starts. It does go to a kill switch, and by completing that circuit, the engine dies.

Backfiring is a possibility- even if it is not 180 degrees out. Spark plug wires could be installed wrong. Firing order is 1243, but you need to establish which wire is on #1, then go clockwise as viewed from the rear. (Magneto setup). Distributor is vertical orientation, and you need to follow its rotation. Check archives for info to determine when #1 cylinder is in firing position.
