I am getting tired of buying carb kits at $20 to $30 a pop, when all I really need is the bowl gasket. Local NAPA says all they carry is the kits. Anybody know where individual carb gaskets can be bought?

Try Olsons Gaskets they make gaskets for old motors, I got a head gasket for my A/C model M form them. They may not make gaskets for carbs, but I know they buy out old dealers stock. They are in Port Orchard Wash. you can get the phone no.form infomation

I like making my own gaskets, too. There is another tool you can use, too, with some gaskets. I use the round end of a small ball peen hammer, and hold the paper against the part and gently tap all around the edges, often this will cut the paper away, but it can also leave an imprint to cut along with small scissors. The hammer's head is about 2 inches long.

If it is a marvel sheibler (not spelled right) carb, try robertscarbrepair.com He has piece by piece online parts and might know where to find them for other makes.

The guys below who make their own gaskets are doing it the right way ... you get a great gasket at almost no cost. The gasket material you can buy in a roll (bulk) at most good auto supply houses. For cutting the holes, I have a set of CORK BORERS that are used in science labs, etc. A whole set will give you all the diameters of holes you need and they are razor sharp and cut perfect holes from tiny ones up to over 1/2" diameter. Check out and see if your local highschool can tell you where they buy their science lab supplies from. It will be in their catalogue.

You did not mention what carb or what it's for.
I got a gasket only kit from John Deere for the carb on my B. Seems I got a bowl gasket for a Allis Chalmers WD45 from the dealer once upon a time. Don't know if there are many AC dealers around anymore.

I might be wrong, but I think AC went out of business, and the name is owned by a company. If I remember right, it was a pump company, but they don't use the name Allis Chalmers.

For some tractors, if the parts catalog lists a separate part number for a particular gasket, some of the dealers that are mentioned on these boards will supply them. But I had to buy four to get above the minimum purchase amount.

Any one with a TISCO account can get a gasket kit for most tractor carburetors.

In general, they seem to be not available. I just make my own if I only need a few gaskets. You would need some hole punches, x-acto type knifes, and some good small scissors like cuticle or nail scissors.

In my job I often need to mfg. odd and tiny gaskets. It is fairly easy if you are patient.Get the following tools, a star wheel leather punch plier, set of hole punches or English wad cutters, small curved blade scissors,(from beauty parlor supply Co.)good quality straight scissors and a small tube of Prussion Blue (mfg by Permatex)or pick up in arts supply store. Now use the blue to make a blue print of the object.Put a medium coat of Prussian blue on the area to be gasketed and very carefully press the object down upon a flat sheet of gasket material. Then remove and you should have a perfect outline of your carburetor. I suggest you punch all holes before as a first step to prevent expansion breaks. Then cut out the remaining pattern. Goodluck.
