I am restoring my first tractor an Oliver Super 55. I am going to need new rear tires. The size on there now is 12-28. A Firestone All Traction Champion. What would be a correct tire to replace this with?

Now that we have you totally confused, here's the synopsis: 11 inch rim= 11-28= new 12.4-28. 12 inch rim=12-28=new13.6-28. 13 inch rim=13-28=new14.9-28. Then, to further confuse you, it is possible to exceed rim size by as much as one inch, although not advisable!

I have 12.4/28s on mine and they work fine.I would measure the rims and get the size to fit them.If the rims are like mine the the 13.6 tire will look bulged and rounded on top.

I have one 55 with 12.2 X 28 but the other has a rim 12" wide X 26 and the only tire available is a 13.6[not sure on .6] at $740 per pair mounted. Both tractors are power adjust and I want to keep that feature. Any body know of another brand besides Firestone that makes the 26" size for less. Thanks

12-28 is the old size marking. New size marking is 13.9-28. Same tire.

Yup- the .9 would apply to a 13-28 = 14.9-28. .6 goes with the smaller tire, and the new size marking refers to the maximum cross-sectional width of the tire, rather than the dimension at the rim.
