I have been having a problem getting my Allis Chalmers Model C (which is also my lawnmower) to run again. It ran great until last week in the middle of the yard. It quit. I took the magneto in and had it rebuilt, New Coil, etc., The engine was rebuilt last year. Upon reinstalling the magneto, I can't seem to get any fire. I have been following the old shop manual on the alignment of the flywheel etc.. I have to be missing something. Can anyone help????? p. s THE GRASS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND.

If it's a magneto it is all self contained and generates it's own electricity. There is probably something grounded inside the magneto, because it would make a spark even if the timing was out of adjustment. Make sure there no bare wires touching against the case. I had the same problem with a motorcycle out west in Texas when I was riding around the country 20 some years ago, it can be frustrating.
