I am not familiar with the JD50 engine but in general the tools for stuck moving parts are: 1, lots of solvent (penetrating oil for rust, lacquer thinner for gum); 2, lots of time and patience for soaking (like a week); 3, vibration and shock (as much tapping in all directions as possible without damaging something); 4,heat (slight at first, increasing if necessary). As a last resort, sacrifice the cheapest or easiest to replace part (drill, cutting torch, etc.). If you can arrange it, sometimes a good steady force from a press, vise, C clamp, or Porto-Power along with the other tools will do the job. Once you get any motion at all, it is usually just a matter or lubricating and moving back and forth to free it up. Lots of luck.

After my first post but before reading yours, I got them loose with a vise grip, a rake tine, and a hammer.
