my grandpa just gave me an old tractor that was in the barn and it is an old cockshutt e-3. he says that it was originally a yellowish color from the factory. i havent been able to find any information on it. it looks likee an industrial yellow when i find paint that isnt damaged by rust. does anyone know anything about it?

The 1946 and 47 E-3s were a yellowish orange color,that was changed to an orange color in late 47 or early 48.The serial should be on top of the frame rail on the left side near the oil filter and should start with the model year if it is an early model and then the model number
and then the serial number,in the later models the year was left off.You may have to scrape some paint to see the serial number.

They never did have an absolutely correct color, I have seen various ones from pumpkin orange to a rather golden yellow, take a sample of the un faded paint and have it scanned, then just match what ya got and paint it that color, no one can tell you its wrong. because there is no right.

ha ha thanks that helps and i think thats probably what ill do... i just wondered if anyone had any for sure information on it on if it was like a rare color or something... but i think ill prolly just do that cuz that was my original plan. thanks
