Hello folks, Question on a Cub lo-boy: Can't get the engine to run more than a few seconds at a time. Thought it was sediment in the tank so I pulled the tank off and put tank liner in it. Still nothing. It does fire, but won't stay running after the starter is disengaged. I'm not an expert rebuilder, so I thought I'd seek some advise.

Thanks,
Ray

i would try to eliminate the electrical system first as the problem. get a length of 14 to 16 ga insulated automotive electrical wire with alligator clips on both ends. at the coil, hook one end up to the terminal opposite the one that has the small wire going to the distributor. hook the other end up to the battery post that is the hot side. not the post that grounds to the tractor. you are either + or - ground. then see if it starts and runs, you will need to remove the wire to shut the tractor off. if it stays running with the wire connected, its a wiring issue.
