I was using a rust stripper wheel on this #8 plow as Im needing a blast cabinet but right now,,, dont have one as yet, Ohhh mannn would be nice to have that, and a buffer and parts washer tank,
all Ive got is that stripper wheel on the end of a drill, and a couple of wire wheel's too, I use them on sheet metal as that rust wheel is too rough on sheet metal,
what do you use on sheet metal without a tank to not warp it when cleaning it ??

Yep.. I put her up on jack stands and went to work.. most of it was getting the many layers of old paint off. I usually primed every day.. and would cover anything I had taken off that day. Was a real fun project.. had to do some metal fabrication for rear cowl brackets and getting hte hood mounted. All the sheet metal was missing from her when i got her.. no hood, no fenders or battery box or rear cowl... most of it was junkyard searches. battery box i found was rusted out so had to weld in a new floor after cutting the old one out.. etc.

deffinately a fun job.

Hi soundguy,
i dont think ive got that much as yours to do as this W-6 is pretty much there except for the hole in the hood,
crack's, & dimple's & bend's in the lower back of fenders, and the front end pieces that have to be replaced, but thats about all,
I think im gonna get this jitterbug sander and go over the fenders and prime them and then the battery box like you said is kinda rusted and dont have a lid for it,
so i might have to get another used battery box and then a lid for it too,
and then ill be in business,

My parts washer looks strikingly similar to a 5g bucket with mineral spirits in it!

i have a collection of 3m pads and wire wheels and wire cups and knotted cups to knock rust off.. these are all drill or drill press mounted in the case of small parts i can carry into the shop.

I have also used an orbital sander in some cases too.

Those of us 'without' have to make due with this kind of stuff.

fortunately.. usually the only difference in better tools and lesser tools is alotta elbow grease..

Yep... elbow grease and time.

She was a rustbucket when i got her.. just a few months of sanding and scraping and whatnot produced a finish like this:

WOOOOOWW mannn totally incredible,
that was from basic hand tools wooooww,
I cant believe that its like new mann O mann that really gives me an incentive to go to town on my W-6 now,
Ive got a jitterbug sander so ill use that too to sand and redo the fender's, and what not the other parts of it and the 2670 too,
Ill just use the older paint on there as a primer, and then the bald spots ill go over with grey primer and then spray the power red and power white on the frame and body,
