I have a WD that ran low on oil and stopped running. The motor won"t turn even though the starter tries to budge it. What will I have to do to get this motor freed up and running again?

I would pull the oil pan, see how far the damage goes. look for discolored rods,try to loosen caps to see if it will turn,see if any bearings welded to c/shaft & spun. i'd say you are looking @ major problems, however i have worked on a couple that lost oil @ lo rpm. rod bearing locked down on crank, spun damaging rod, but crank would still work by cleaning off soft bearing material-if starvation got to mains, not much hope.

If you ran it that low on oil you stand about a 95% chance that you will need to rebuild that engine. Now if your a gambling man you can try this, but its a gamble at best. Fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and also over fill the oil pan with tranny fluid so as to have the rod and main bearings soaking in the stuff. Let it sit a few days then with the plug out try to turn it over. If it then spends over drain the oil pan and fill with a good brand of oil and start it up but if it knocks any shut it off and you will need to rebuild the engine

Since the tractor only cost me $900.00 that would make it cost prohibitive to restore.

New sleeves, pistons, crank shaft turned and new rod and main bearings. Figure around $1000-1500 for all the parts and machine shop work

basic engine rebuild kit, reground crankshaft w/bearings, block, rods, cam, oil pump, ect. ran through good machine shop---credit card with lotsa room----
