If anyone out there could be kind enough to lend me some tips/knowledge about restoring, it would be much appreciated.

I am currently thinking about beginning to restore my grandpa"s 1949 Farmall C. It is in great running order & I just put new points in it. I would love to be able to bring it back to looking like the day he bought it. Please help with any ideas or tips that could help me bring this Farmall back to glory.

Fancy Farm - looks like you are doing it right - which you will be able to tell by the end result.
Thanks for the advice/tips. I appreciate anything I can get. Since I am a working 24yr old trying to save for a house & wedding, money isn't in abundence. I was thinking of new paint, decals, and a few personal touches. I would like to put a chrome stack on it & a few little chrome accent parts. Nothing over the top, just something subtle & personal. I know for a fact that I dont have the money for a complete restoration & making it a national award winner or anything. My goal is to make this tractor look great, but at the same time, be able to use it for it's light chores on the farm.

I have good rubber on it - replaced 3years ago. The sheetmetal is pretty good. The only thing witha few dings in it is the grill - hardest thing to find in good condition.

What year is your "C"?

Pull it in the shop and start taking it appart if you have all the mechanical issues resolved. I like to prep each part as it is removed. One thing you need to know is how far you want to go with the restoration. A leval 3 restoration, that's everything that needs fixing fixed and a nice well done paint job (new tires are extra) will probably cost $1500 an award winning restoration that's ground up every nut and bolt taken out and all worn parts replaced professonal paint job and you will be looking at $10000.00.
