this idiot cuts a hole in my hood on my w-6 and then leaves it there for whatever to just look crappy, now i have to get a hood and a alternator to fit and ws thinking about a smaller alternator that fits undert that hood on the bracket,
so to look clean,
it the w-6 in ks, of kirl in ks, if you wanna know looks like crap and then the idiot totally twinks uo all the metal on front end and welds everyhting together and then i have to undo it all just to make it right again,
If i saw this guy that did this id shoot him,
welds all over everything and broken strring arm to make hydralic steering out of it that didnt work and a stupid power steeering pump from a some chevy, off of a home made bracket for the pump that looks like crap,
alot of idiots out there that dont know snot about tractors and how to NOT MODIFY THEM
I need lights front and rear, maybe even a parts tractor,
the whole front end and guages and steering thats not sloppy,

I know you might say "COBBLED", but many years ago prior to joining the military I used/modified alternator brackets from 60's model Chevy pickups with 6 cylinder engines and used them for the bracket for putting the alternator on Farmalls (ie H's and M's) with very good success. The fan belt to run the alternator was interesting sometimes and mostly used twine to get a measurement to find a belt to fit. When completed and the sheet metal put back on you wouldn't know there was an alternator on it unless you popped the hood to look.

As far as the cut out, do you have the piece that was cut? It's possible to take an oxy/acetylene rig and weld it back in. With some TLC, bodyfiller, and patience it will look very good if not like new.

I think that you should be able to buy a Char-Lyn pump, motor to hook up on that tractor to take care of your power steering problems.

i found some spindles here in the next town scott, so you dont have to send yours to me, I thank you anyway or the help though and i appreciate guys like you being there for follow up and part's too, but i found a complete front end and now i have to go get i and bring it home ok,

Now I'm pulling MY hair out. Why do you want to cobble it up with another alternator? If you think it needs to be 12v,how about a 12v GENERATOR so it at least LOOKS original? Sorry about the rant,but that's one of my pet peves. To me,alternators on an antique tractor ARE A COBBLE JOB!!!!

yea alll these guys think an older tractor goes so good with a 12 volt system,
not so, I think its just as good with the original 6 volt system and it dont turn over much slower with the older system contrary to some peoples opinion sheesh,
boy how you find things out that arnt anybetter than the way it was built in the 1st place,

yea no kidding guy i said that on this thing when i got it 2 yrs ago, and i wanted to make it right ever since,
Im tossing that alternator out in the weeds and useing it for target practice with my moson nagant 30 cal rifle,
guys were telling me that 12 volt was the way to go ,
but i find out it isnt on these older ones, so go figure,
I have a 12 volt generator for it and i think it works so ill put that on and ash can that stupid alternator, sheesh the crap you have to go thru to make something right after it was all screwed up in the 1st place,

Sometimes, on the M/W6 they fit out of sight under the hood and can usually use the same mounting bracket. I agree with you on those that you see from the outside.

Kirk,
Get a parts tractor or go to the junk yard. Start buying and replacing your broken and messed up parts. Before you know it you will have everything just right, the way you want it.
