Very sick Bolens g14

I have a big problem. While clearing snow with my G14 last weekend, the blower became clooged and stuck. I disengaged it but when I went to shift into reverse gear I had an awful time. The next day when I went out to invesitgate I found out that I couldn't engage either reverse or 1st gear. I didn't try 2nd, 3rd or the high range because I knew something was wrong already. In neutral I noticed that the drive shaft turns constantly whether the clutch was engaged or disengaged. I shut the tractor off and got underneath and rotated the drive shaft by hand. I was quite surprised to find out that pushing down on the clutch actually made it more difficult to rotate the driveshaft by hand. I would have thought it would have rotated more freely. I can't say I ever had the opportunity to try this while it was working properly, so I don't know how different, if and it is behaving. I do most minor repairs, but know I'm reaching my limit to what I can tackle. I don't even know where to start. If there is anyone who could lend a few suggestions, well that would be great....thanks.
