diesel fuel in oil

My MF65 has started to fill the oil pan with diesel fuel when it sets. I let my father barrow it and he put a shutoff in line but then you have to bleed the system everytime you want to use it. Any ideas of whats going wrong would be appreciated. Thanks

The very first thing I'd check is the lift pump (primary pump) It should be located on the right hand side (as you sit on the tractor). The diaphram goes bad, causing a variety of troubles. One, it may leak externally. Two, it may draw air, causing the injector pump to air lock, OR, as I suspect in your case, it leaks internally, sending fuel into the crankcase. VERY common problem on older Perkins diesels. You can get a pump rebuild kit or a replacement pump through AGCO/MF at a reasonable price. The last one I rebuilt took less than an hour, start to finish, with just a few hand tools.

Ditto what the others said.. shaft seal on the injector pump.. or possibly a fuel pump, depending on it's location.. etc..

If it does it while sitting, it is also doing it when running..... ..so the engine oil is getting diluted. My JD 4450MFWD did that a few years ago. Oil level would rise on 2-4 hours running, never get above a certain point, because it was being burned off while running. Sent in an oil sample, result from JD was DO NOT RUN. Injector pump needed a rebuild. Working fine since, cranks 190hp, but pull the same load at the same speed. Nice to have that reserve in the tough spots. Do need to watch the engine water temp on the long pulls in the field.

my money is on a bad fuel pump. That would be good news. Less dough to fix.

Could be a seal going bad in the injector pump, or if it has a fuel pump the diaphram maybe going bad. Either way you need to fix it before you run it any more or it can cause the engine to lock up
