Can anyone tell me whether it is cheaper to buy a new steering wheel or have the rosin/rubber replaced? Is the quality of a replacement the same as the old one? And finally, where in the St. Louis area would I find a company that does the replacement?

Thanks

Mike

Thanks for the replies. I have been seeing steering wheels on ebay. I suppose I will avoid those.

You have got to be careful about WHO you buy from on ebay. Some of those sellers do not have a clue as to what or how the part will fit because they have never used it themselves. I recently needed a new steering wheel for a Farmall H that I am working on, so I ordered one from my supplier and liked it well enough that I ordered more of them. Ebay is a good place to shop for tractor parts, but go directly to the ebay stores for the best bargains.

You can buy a replacement on Ebay but if you're even remotely fussy about what it looks like, you wont want it. I bought one, welded together crooked with big welds around the outside of the hub, looked worse than the one I was replacing. I sent it back. Jim

If you can find a suitable replacement on E-bay, then the replacement is usually cheaper. The look is not always original though. There is a company in Minnesota called Mine-Kota(sp?) that advertises they will rebuild any wheel.
