Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could do to protect my tractor (Super M) from the rain, sun and snow. I do not have a roof to park it under. I was thinking of a large tarp with a thick sheet of clear plastic on top of that to keep the tarp from leaking then using two ropes to tie everything down. Thanks in advance--Marvin

For around $100.00 dollars you can buy a metal framed canvas carport from Cummings Tool. I have one and it works good. I am going to put a metal roof on mine and maybe enclose with 4x8 siding one day you can get a canvas kit form them that will totally enclose it. You may have to pull you muffler but it is worth it. You would probably spend that much in tarps and plastic sheeting.

Be sure to leave plenty of openings under tarp and space between tarp and tractor. Condensation can be worse than rain and snow if left for long periods.

Make an a-frame tent.. IE.. put a pole in the ground for and aft of the tractor.. pul a rope betweent he poles.. lay your tarp over it and then spike the corners and sides.

Should keep 90% of the sun and rain out.. and if you angle it right the tarp won't abraid your pain, or trap moisture under it, and since you mention snow, the high angle o fthe 'tent' should prevent a snow load buildup like a tube frame carport tarp would.. or a cheap leanto.. etc.. and will instead shed it to either side..

I think you want to create a roofline above the tractor first, maybe attached to the tractor front and rear, A conduit pipe arrangement, or something like that, then hang the tarp over it. Then the water won't pool anywhere. And don't go all the way to the ground for air flow. Also where ever the tarp touches paint the wind can cause the tarp to scuff the paint a little. A water proof breathable material is maybe better, but either one is good for only a few years, but saves what is under it.
