I just spent $400 to have the loader cylinders rebuilt on my newly acquired beat up MF 1035. Now I find the spool valve needs rebuilt. Since the hydraulic shop took a big part of my retirement fund for the cylinders, I will complete the valve repair myself. Can't find a repair kit anywhere or instructions. The spool valve body has "ONE 2" and "OO" cast on it. Anyone know where I might find the parts needed and/or instructions?

To find out for sure if its the spool valve place ball valve in line ahead of the spool valve. If the loader still seeps down with the ball valve closed then you have other problems.

Thanks for the reply, 44massey. I installed a new spool valve today and everythng is working as it should. The bucket has been in the raised position for 4 hours and hasn't moved an inch. The old valve is going in the scrap heap since a new valve only cost me $125 deliverd to my doorstep.

Why do you need to rebuild it... oil leaking EXTERNALLY? That's easy to fix, with generic "O" rings, or seals, as needed.

If there's INTERNAL problems, such as oil leaking internally past the custom-fitted spool, there's NO fix.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. The problem is that the loader leaks down, indicating fluid is being let out of the cylinders. There are no external leaks. So, the valve must be beyond repair? I've ordered a new valve and will install soon as it gets here. The old valve will go to the scrap bin if there is no rebuilding it.

Are you SURE the loader isn't leaking down due to bad seals in one or both cylinders... leaking INTERNALLY past the piston seals, not externally, so you would see it dripping out?

The cylinders were rebuilt at a cost of $100 each so they should be in good shape. Both the lift and bucket rotation was failing.

First of all what brand of valve do you have? Next for better quality the valve spool is matched to the housing(casting) when it is made. The parts are normally not available seperately.

Thanks for the reply J. Not sure what brand. I haven't got the unit removed yet cause I'm in the middle of a project and the tractor is being used for the next coouple of days. There may be some identification that will surface once the unit is off. I found a new spool valve on Ebay for around $140 and may just purchase it. Even if I get the new valve I'll dismantel the old one and if all it needs is O rings and seals will try to resell it on Ebay.
