When installing a radiator, the manual states to install gasket but does not mention if you should use a sealant or not. Should I use a sealant? If so, on both sides of the gasket? It is a cork type gasket that was supplied with the radiator.

There are only 3 reasons I know of to use a sealant.
1 Manufacture says to
2 The part is to pitted to make a seal with the gasket
3 To hold the gasket on while fitting parts together(only a little bit is used).
Remember you are going to squeeze that cork down then it is going to swell some from the water in the rad. I do not see any reason to do it.

i used silicone rtv sealant on my cub when i installed the radiator. i put a thin coat on both sides. dont go heavy on the sealant as it will goop out and get into the cooling system.
