Has anyone used a timer on a 240 volt electric water heater and did it save money on bill? Our house is all electric with two water heaters and high bill. Also wher is a good place to purchase one?????

An insulation blanket will help cut electric usage too.

Our rural electric coop installs a switching device on electric water heaters so they can switch them off during peak power demand. I believe they can switch us off for up to 4 hours. For the ability to manage load, they credit us $5 per month for each controlled heater. The only down side has been that when laundry day and a long controll period happen at the same time, we may run out of hot water. Rare, but it does happen.
