I am in the process of a full restoration of an International B250 for a customer. Unfortunately I was unable to talk him out of having the main castings powder coated, my greatest fears coming to reality. During the process, the cases were heated to above the release point of the original anti-bleed coating on the inside of the main case. Trying to purchase this type of paint is proving impossible, paint "experts" have been suggesting all sorts that "should" work, but will not give any guarentees. If anyone knows what this sealer / paint actually was, and where it can be obtained I would be forever greatful to hear fron you, Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Glyptal has been used in racing engines a lot. It seals the block and keeps riff raff like sand and other metal particles from coming loose from the block. It also aids oil drainback a lot.

When you paint it on, try to get some good heat lamps to really bake it on.

Glyptal is the product of choice where I work. It's used to seal the inside of large bearing housings, also large gear boxes.Prob. other stuff out there that will work too,but I know for sure that Glyptal works. Some local racers used to paint the inside surface of thier motors blocks with electrical motor varnish,[don't know what brand],but I think that was more to get the oil to drain back to pan faster.

I don't know if Glyptal is what they used at the factory, but it looks a lot like it, and Glyptal would work. It should be available at any large electrical supply house or as Sam mentioned below, it is available from Eastwood Co.

This same question has appeared before and people have given out the name of the company and the product which is used, the last time was not too long ago. I can't remember it but try searching the archives, maybe using key words like "sealant" or "transmission seal", coating, etc. Also, post your question on the tractor talk forum, that seems to be where most of the action is.
