I have a massy 35 that the stick is stuck in 2nd gear. I can't seem to figure out how to get the stick assemby apart. Does that pin go all the way thru and need to be knocked out. Then the top spins off, or is there a trick to it. Please help, I'm trying to help a 77 years young neighbor so he can play in his garden again. TY

Hello, I seem to remember that the 35 that I grew up on would also stick in gear. The process of fixing it was to unscrew the fill plug on the top of the trany and then with a large screwdriver slide the fork back to where it should be. If I remember correctly it is at the top of the tranny close to the hole and can be reached without problem. Good luck.

I have a TO-35, and yup, that's what you do. The part is up near the top, and as soon as you push back on it you'll feel it's doing the right thing as it slides back.

First time I did it I posted here in panic, but the guys told me how to fix it. Now it's second nature.

It happens when you're applying (pulling) up on the stick shift at the same time you're shifting. Usually I know I've done before I've done it type of thing 'cause I can feel I just shifted wrong. When it happens to me (which isn't that much anymore) is when I'm thinking of something else and not paying attention when I shift to make sure I'm "flat" and not "pulling up" on the stick as I shift.

Thank you very much. I haven"t play with this MF since I was a teenager. And that was 30 years ago. I will look at it today and see what happens.
