I have a IH 460 utility tractor and the hydraulics in the 3 point are week. It is equipted with a down pressure cylinder but just hisses when force is applyed. The same noise comes from the power steering when it is in use. If it needs fluid or bleeding does anyone have any helpful hints. Thanks for helping

First thing to do is change the fluid and filter. To get to the filter you must remove the plate on the lower right side of the transmission housing. Obviously drain the system first. It takes 10 gallons of Hytran. If that does not work, ask your question on the Farmall forum (ask now, also). As to down pressure, sort of. Your tractor should have what IH calls "Tel-a depth", which maintains a fixed depth. You are not supposed to use the hitch for things like raising a wheel off the ground, though.

Thankyou for that info. is the "tell a depth" system the handle on the left side of the tractor that goes up and down with slots in the flat bar will move up and down and lock in to those slots? Thanks again -whit
