I went to Tractor Supply last night to pick up a gallon of IHC red that I plan to use for restoration of a 7hp and a 6hp Economy hit & miss engines and carts (stealth gloat!)I was planning on getting the standard equipment maintenance Valspar that they carry, which I believe to be good paint, esp when used with hardener. They now are offerring a new Valspar "restoration grade" paint and hardener. The label claims that it is an automotive grade paint with superior durability and shine, etc. Cost comparison: normal valspar $23/gal + $10 hardener = $33/gal fancy valspar $39/gal + $20 hardener = $59/gal I wonder if it is worth the price difference? Any experience with this stuff? When I get around to restoring 2 JD B"s that I have, I think I"ll go with the good stuff for sure. I just wonder about doing it on some hit and miss engines and carts. Money is tight these days...
